Mediability has helped SBS Discovery get rid of content on all physical units, allowing the broadcaster to receive all their content digitally — around the clock.

The project, called Tapeless, aimed to get rid of all physical devilry and storage of content by the end of 2013. The starting point was to establish routines and create automatic workflow, making everyday life more efficient and precise.

Mediability has managed to replace large numbers of DVDs, hard disks and video cassettes, which were often transported to and from production companies using couriers and taxis.

The technical service — the actual hub for all this — is Mediability’s MediaHUB.net, which is now being used by all of SBS Discovery in Norway and by nearly 20 production companies. The production companies have been particularly happy with the fact that they now can deliver content around the clock, while they used to have to adapt their production to the broadcasters’ receptions’ opening hours.
